Questions
Is Find work free?
Yes. Find work is free for California subcontractors during the beta.
Where do the jobs come from?
From building permits that cities publish as open data, plus Caltrans public bids. Each job links to the official record and shows its date. We add areas as cities confirm their data can be shared.
Which areas are covered?
Today: San Francisco, the City of San José (Santa Clara County), the City of San Diego, the City of Riverside and the City of Santa Monica (Los Angeles County), plus Caltrans bids statewide. More areas are coming.
How do I know who is running the job?
When the city lists a contractor, we match it to the CSLB license record and show the name and license number. Owner-builders are marked, because they hire subs directly.
Does HatBench vouch for the jobs or contractors?
No. These are public records, not referrals. Check the permit and the contractor's CSLB record before you bid.
Is it in Spanish?
Yes. Tap "Español" in the app, or open it on a phone set to Spanish.
